AND CENTRAL EXCISE WELFARE FUND

Apart from paying Customs
Duty by adjustment through Personal Deposit Account the accounting
of the three funds viz. (i) Customs & Central Excise Welfare fund,
(ii) Performance Award Fund and (iii) Customs & Central Excise Special
Fund for acquisition of anti smuggling equipment, has also been
prescribed through the Personal Deposit Account. The Secretary of
the Governing Body administering these funds has been entrusted
with the work relating to the Personal Deposit Accounts. He is responsible
for the legality and propriety of all the payments made out of these
Personal Deposit Accounts. Amounts from these funds are allocated
to the various attached and subordinate offices under CBEC/Deptt.
of Revenue by cheque drawn on SBI, Central Secretariat, North Block
branch, New Delhi. The purpose of creating this Fund is to promote
staff welfare. It is used for recreation, giving death relief, medical
Assistance for emergency and construction of Holiday Homes etc.,
The transactions under this fund for the last five years are tabulated.
