ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION OF CHALLAN DATA FROM FOCAL POINT BANK TO P.A.O.

With the ever increasing number of challans in the CBEC, it has become necessary to decentralize the work and capture data in the receiving stage itself with built in validation checks. For this, in consultation with NIC officials and Bank authorities, a specific format has been defined in which the banks are required to send the data to the concerned PAOs on a day to day basis along with the bank scrolls and supporting challans. A workshop for dissemination of requirements for electronic Transmission of Challans/Scrolls data was conducted at Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkatta during November 2002. Representatives of the Nationalized Banks participated in the workshop. Most of the banks have already developed suitable module for the Electronic Transmission of Challan data in existing bank software and confirmed the integrity of the data structure from NIC through the O/o Pr. CCA. The nominated public sector banks in Delhi doing CBEC business have already started field testing from selected branches from October 2003. Once the system is successfully implemented in Delhi, it is proposed to extend the procedure in all the Metros and thereafter it will be introduced elsewhere in phased manner.
