Computerisation of
Accounting functions in CBEC involve accounting of both Revenue
and Expenditure Accounts. Since the volume of revenue transactions
are very heavy in CBEC, separate package for Revenue Accounting
has been developed for the specific needs of CBEC.
Computerisation of Revenue
Accounting has been in operation in the 31 Pay & accounts Offices
under CBEC since 1985 through Micro Processor computer systems.
It worked smoothly through the MONEX package developed for 6 to
7 years. Thereafter the Micro Processor systems became obsolete
and were replaced by Personal Computer systems - PC-80386 & PC-8088
from 1992 onwards. For the new Personal Computers, a software package
for the revenue accounting "REVACT" has been developed by NIC in
consultation with the EDP section of Pr. CCA office.
During the year 1996-97,
all the PC-8088/PC-XT computer systems were replaced with the Pentium
systems in all the PAOs for fast data entry & processing in REVACT
package.
Computerisation of Expenditure
Accounting has also been implemented in the Pay & Accounts Offices
of the CBEC through the mainstream accounting packages IMPROVE and
CONTACT, which have been developed by the NIC in consultation with
the Controller General of Accounts on the new Personal computers.
IMPROVE is the expenditure accounting software designed for Pay
and Accounts Offices and CONTACT is designed for use in Pr. Accounts
Office for compilation of monthly accounts received from Pay and
Accounts Offices. IMPROVE has now been replaced with an upgraded
package called COMPACT.
