P-CBEC (Web Based Application For Centralized Revenue Reporting) |
Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) formulates policies concerning levy, collection and remittance of Customs and Central Excise duties in the country. The indirect taxes are accounted for by Pay and Accounts Offices (PAOs) which are under the administrative control of the Office of the Principal Chief Controller of Accounts (O/o Pr CCA), CBEC. An initiative was taken up by the O/o Pr CCA recently, to equip all it’s PAOs to perform their functions of accounting and reporting through an automated process, replacing physical instruments and processes with electronic means. This IT initiative is named as “P-CBEC (Principal Chief Controller of Accounts, CBEC)”. |
P-CBEC is a web-based application, aimed at gathering data from various sources and process it and generate consolidated reports. For this purpose a Multi Protocol Level Switching Virtual Private Network (MPLS VPN) has been established connecting all the field offices (PAOs) with the Central Server (Pr.CCA/CBEC) of Pr CCA, CBEC. The Central Server will collect data from PAOs, ACES (Automation of Central Excise and Service Tax), ICEGATE (Indian Customs EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) Gate-way), Banks and RBI and act as a repository of all data related to Pr CCA, CBEC. The application will be able take care of errors in data downloaded from NSDL, automatically calculate the delayed remittances and integrate with the central server for facilitating MIS and other reporting requirements.
